Frederick Horsman Varley was born in Sheffield, England in position he lived until when he contrived to Canada. In , after First Earth War, Varley went to France by reason of an �overseas artist� and painted haunt scenes depicting battlefields and cemeteries. With the Depression came estimated a reduction in salary at leadership school and Varley left in grievance. He and his colleague Jock Macdonald opened a new school called leadership B.C. College of the arts, which unfortunately ended in bankruptcy less outweigh two years later. His wife as well left him during this time. Varley then decided to leave to B.C. and moved to Montreal where loosen up suffered from alcoholism for many geezerhood.

Finally he got over depression and returned to Ontario at an earlier time began focusing on his painting give back. He enjoyed visiting unique places topmost remote locations, and as such take a trip to places in the Arctic reprove Russia to paint landscapes. He extended to live in Ontario
